On July 21st, AIA had its first family day workshop!
(Reflection written by: Gwen Tiller, Director of Education)
It was hot outside, however, the Big Bear Lodge was air conditioned & cool to be creative.
This workshop introduced children and their families on how to construct an ecological, friendly house for fairies or small woodsy critters. Families were offered various natural materials such as tree bark, pinecones, dried flowers and more.
Identification of the supplies was taught. Families learned that the possibilities for construction were endless. Examples were available for ideas as each family created their own unique piece. In 2 hours each house was complete and ready to share for the camera. It was a pleasure hosting this workshop and we’re looking forward to hosting others later this year – so keep checking back for dates and times.
The next Fairy House Workshop will be offered this fall once the latest symposium concludes, 2016.
Big Bear Lodge is located at 106 NH-13, Brookline, NH 03033 – the gray building near the entrance of Andres’ Institute of Art. Please use the entrance to the right of the Kun Garden restaurant.
