John M. Weidman is the Director and Co-Founder of Andres Institute of Art

You’ll find John’s work dotted throughout the Andres Institute of Art. You’ll find several of his works located in the Welcome center at the bottom of the hill and several around the parking lot and even the Welcome sign in the front was built by John.  John is a distinguished sculptor and a pivotal figure in the New Hampshire contemporary art scene. Educated at Miami and Antioch Universities, he further deepened his understanding of the human form through studies in anatomy and dissection at Harvard Medical School. This unique background informs his powerful and often abstract sculptural works, which frequently explore the human condition and personal metaphors.

We are proud to have John as our founder and director of the Andres Institute of Art. Under his leadership, this expansive outdoor sculpture park has blossomed into a significant cultural asset for New England, attracting both national and international artists. He is also the Founder and former Artistic Director of the Nashua Footprints International Sculpture Symposium, further contributing to public art initiatives in the region.

Known for his multi-talented approach to sculpture, Weidman is generous in sharing his expertise with emerging and international artists. His work, often created from metal and stone, is characterized by its thoughtful composition of angular and curved lines, frequently imbued with deep meaning that invites viewer interpretation. His sculptures are part of collections across New England, Ohio, Indiana, Canada, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Latvia, reflecting his significant impact on the art world. Weidman’s dedication has been instrumental in making sculpture accessible and fostering artistic growth in the community.
