Alex Minasian is a NYC jazz pianist, playing with and serving as music director for legendary jazz vocalists Little Jimmy Scott and Mark Murphy. Last year, his trios headlined at the Burlington Jazz Fest and held a sold-out show at Scullers in Boston. This summer has him traveling to Dizzy’s Club – Jazz at Lincoln Center and to Washington DC for the Jazz in the Gardens concert series.
Joining Alex for this concert will be Francisco Mela on drums and John Lockwood on bass.
Francisco Mela is an associate professor at Berklee College of Music, a drummer and composer and was the percussionist on Songwrights Apothecary Lab by Esperanza Spaulding which won the 2022 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
John Lockwood is an electric and acoustic bassist. He has toured the US and Europe with Joe Henderson, Gary Burton and The Fringe. He has performed with the Boston Pops, MIT Symphony, Pat Metheny, Dizzy Gillespie, Toots Thielemans, Stan Getz, and Art Farmer.
