Join us for a First Day Hike Jan 1, 2026!
Celebrate the first day of 2026 with a guided sculpture walk at the Andres Institute of Art. Our experienced trail docents Kristi St. Laurent & Eric McIntyre will lead you on a hike through this beautiful mountainside sculpture park. You’ll discover the rich history of the park, learning how it transformed from a ski area into New England’s largest outdoor sculpture park.
WHEN: 1PM – January 1st, 2026
MEET: Parking Lot in front of the AIA Welcome Center – #106 Route 13 in Brookline NH
FREE EVENT Start 2026 off right with a brisk, guided sculpture hike at the Andres Institute of Art. Following in the footsteps of the National and State Park Systems’ First Day Hikes, the Andres institute of Art offers our trails as an option. The park is situated on a former ski hill, so anticipate some vertical rise and nature-trail conditions. Snow-covered and slippery surfaces are likely. The tour will cover dirt, gravel, rock and some pavement trail surfaces, with and without incline. We recommend hiking boots with good traction and a trekking pole or two. The volunteer guide will provide trail direction and information about the park and sculptures, but all hiking is at your own risk.
The hike will start at 1:00pm in the Welcome Center and Art Gallery which will be open from 12 noon – 3pm. Plan on a little extra time before or after to visit the exhibits and the works of four artists for sale in the gallery. There will be a warm beverage in the Welcome Center, hot cider or cocoa – volunteer’s choice 🙂 .
As with the hiking trails, the guided hike is provided for free, but donations are greatly appreciated. The AIA is completely volunteer-run and depends on donations to continue providing access to the sculpture trails as well as to host our Annual Sculpture Symposium. Other fundraisers include the Live Concert Series and the Biannual Iron Melt. Find more information on these using our website tabs at the top of the page.
