ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

1970     Born in Yerevan, Armenia
1990     Graduated from Art College after P. Terlemezyan, Yerevan, Armenia, department of sculpture
1996     Graduated from Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, department of sculpture
1992     Attended the seminar of machine-tool graphics organized by Levon Jamkochyan (Armenian painter living in the USA

1994     Fine Arts School after H. Gyurjyan, Karabakh
1996     Chairman of the students council at the Institute

ARTIST STATEMENT:
The compositional makeup of the sculpture is as follows:
Metal laths protrude rhythmically from the right and left sides of the crude stone block. White balls are affixed to the tips of the lathes on one side, black balls on the other, symbolizing the positive and negative, kind and wicked, noon and night states of life.
As with Hebacleitus (5th century philosopher), the impulsive force at the center of all this is fire, so I have installed the symbol of fire and the sun in the center of the composition.
