The Fall Iron Melt

If you have participated in the past, you are likely looking forward to this biennial event.

If you have yet to try your hand at mold-making, you may wonder what the excitement is all about!

The squares in the photo above were carved by patrons. They are painted with graphite by volunteers so that the molten iron poured by Green Foundry in Eliot, Maine will release once cooled. The finished product is a 6″x6″ iron tile that is cast from the carved mold.

Iron Melt Details and Registration

The mold pickup and drop off location is at the AIA visitor/Art Center (Formerly Big Bear Lodge) 106 Route 13, Brookline, NH

Most dates are 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Thursdays and Saturdays

Online Registration – On or before Saturday, Oct 2 (Closes with last pick-up at 2pm)
Mold Pick Up Dates – September 23, 25, 30, October 2
Carved Mold Drop Off Dates: September 25, 30, October 2, 7
The pour will happen at our Foundry in Maine on Saturday, October 9
Completed Iron Cast Pick Up on October 14, 16

The Cost is $40 per per mold, $30 for AIA members

Please note: Registration is upon payment only, either by PayPal or Check.

Payment by check mailed to 106 Route 13, Brookline, NH must note how many molds and membership levels are purchased.

Please provide the contact information requested so we can get your completed work of art to you!

Please note that membership and mold purchases are separate PayPal transactions and can be done in either order.

Volunteers are needed to prepare molds and for pick-up and return of the molds from patrons.

We are trying Signup Genius to allow volunteers to choose their types and times of service.
