Join us for the Bruce Mattson band and get ready to groove to their high-energy New Orlean's R&B sound. We'll be having a CD Release party to celebrate their album “Vintage Modern” on August 15!

Bruce Mattson is a jazz/blues pianist and Hammond organist, and a former member of the Gregg Allman Band. His New Orleans funk/R&B-focused album Crescent City Swagger features frequent NOLA collaborators including sax legends Dr. Charles Neville of the Neville Brothers, Amadee Castenell, and Doug James. Bruce was a frequent guest in Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band (Allman Brothers drummer and founding member), and has written for, recorded and performed with guitarists Jon Butcher and Willie J. Laws Jr., blues singers Toni Lynn Washington and Nora Jean Wallace, and many others. His own group, the Bruce Mattson Band plays a high energy mix of New Orleans R&B, including the music of Dr. John, the Meters and the Neville Brothers, roots rock classics, favorites from the artists he’s worked with, and tunes from his own albums. Concerts are upstairs at the AIA Welcome Center, on the Dream Trax Stage in Big Bear Lodge. The room is rustic with resonant acoustics. It features all table-seating with the audience limited to about 130 guests. Beer. Wine, and other various canned alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available for sale. We do NOT allow outside beverages into the facility. Food is available at many local eateries or bring in snacks from home or takeout. An elevator is available from the first floor Gallery at Andres Institute of Art.

Be sure to visit the Art Gallery with exhibitions changing every eight weeks. World class art on view and to purchase, with meet-the-artist events and hands-on workshops offered. In the Welcome Center, learn about the history of the AIA and Potanipo Hill. Arrive early to hike the sculpture trails before the show.
