The mold(s) and carving tool(s) must be picked up at the AIA Welcome Center due to the weight. Molds may be picked up at the Welcome Center during open hours: Tuesdays and Thursday, 11am - 4pm, Fridays 10-3. Watch for the green OPEN flag. If the OPEN flag is not out, you can pick up during the open hours of Brookline's Finest, 9am-5pm 7 days per week. Brookline's Finest is within our building, the door next to the Welcome Center. They offer sandwiches, soup and a daily entree, baked goods, beverages, ice cream and locally-made gift items. You may also reach out to [email protected] if you want to confirm pick up. Please print or show your confirmation email on your phone to pick up your mold. You can select to pay later and pay with cash or check at the Welcome Center. 

Your purchase buys a mold to carve, instructions and a carving tool. Carve the mold at home and return it to the AIA Welcome Center (see days/hours above). Join us at the Studio to watch the molten iron poured! Once poured, they need to be cooled, cleaned and rough edges removed. This is a good time to explore the trails. Molds cannot be returned as most break during the release process.

There will be shuttle service between the Welcome Center and the Studio on the day of the pour. 

If you are not able to be present at the iron pour you make pick up your iron cast during Welcome Center Open Hours the week after the Iron Melt.

The date for the Spring 2025 Iron Melt has not been set yet. It will likely be a Saturday in May. You can purchase and carve in advance, we will notify all purchasers once the date is set.

Carved molds should be returned back to the Andres to be prepped for the pour before the pour date. If, due to distance, you need to return your mold the day of the pour, it must be dropped off at the Welcome Center by 10:00 am.

Anyone who wishes to carve their mold the day of the iron melt should arrive at the studio (leave time to walk up there) at least two hours ahead of the pour. Come with an idea in mind so you can get right to carving - it takes some doing! It is recommended that you purchase/reserve a mold in advance as the Iron Melts have been selling out.
