Book: John M Weidman: A Familiar Place
John M. Weidman, A Familiar Place is a compilation of the artist's career, depicting his work, exhibits and awards. Since the recent publication of the book, Mr. Weidman was named the 2023 New Hampshire Governor's Arts Award for Distinguished Leadership in the Arts. Part of his mission has been to train up and encourage the next generation of artists. This book presents his career both to inform, but also to serve as an example to future artists of a non-linear, lifelong career through many artistic media, countries and settings. The book is the work of several dedicated volunteers, including John's wife Nadiya. Publication was made possible with support from Freedom's Way Partnership Grant Program.
John M. Weidman, A Familiar Place is a considered examination of John Weidman's creative career journey and overarching artistic achievements. It speaks to his shared life and love with his wife Nadiya, his international perspective and his singular career as a sculptor as well as beloved mentor. And it recognizes his love of natural surroundings and his personal notion of the joy, beauty and limitlessness of the art world.
