Different Ships, Same Boat

- Description
As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, Different Ships, Same Boat invites audiences to celebrate not only America but Americans. This is for those craving a powerful artistic performance of captivating music and stories — a moving, finely-crafted, anthology that connects audiences to American histories, perspectives, and experiences both familiar and different from their own.
With stories from Chinese Americans at Angel Island to Ottoman Jewish immigrants, along with music and song spanning lyrical American Blues to Ottoman Jewish cantigas in the endangered language of Ladino, Different Ships, Same Boat offers a stirring exploration of the joys, tensions and complexities of who we are, and who we wish to be, to ourselves and to each other.
Experience stories of some of the people who make America what it is — including those that often fly under the radar of history books. The show is performed by a world-class quartet of multiethnic, multiracial Americans.
Funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.
